Kim Dotcom: Caught in the Web

  • TV1 here aired Annie Goldson’s Kim Dotcom: Caught in the Web, a 2017 documentary film about the internet millionaire. I’m glad our state broadcaster has opted to air this, as there has been an awful lot of misinformation about Dotcom, especially when he got involved in politics in 2014. And what he, Glenn Greenwald, Edward Snowden and Julian Assange said at his ‘Moment of Truth’ event was correct: New Zealanders are subject to mass surveillance, which then-Prime Minister John Key lied about. Of course, when all that was revealed to be true, it barely made an impact in the news—yet the media were all too happy to dis Dotcom and his colleagues to minimize their impact. For some time, my post-election defence of Dotcom was one of the most read posts on my blog.
Below is the trailer, and check out the official site here. The film is well worth watching if it comes on in your country.
